Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What does a first session entail?

A meet & greet allows us time to speak via telephone to briefly review your concerns that are bringing you into therapy, answer any questions you may have and discuss the type of help I can offer.

In an initial session, this is an opportunity for you to start to share your story at a pace that feels comfortable to you. It often involves an exploration of your concerns, history, background, and strengths and goals. We will also have time to cover important aspects of entering therapy, such as office policies and confidentiality.

Do you accept insurance?

As a Registered Psychotherapist, my services are often covered by extended personal insurance plans. I provide a receipt after session that you may submit to your insurer for reimbursement. Please check if your insurer covers counselling/psychotherapy services provided by a registered psychotherapist. At the time of your session, payment can be made via credit card or E-transfer.

What is therapy and how can it help me?

Psychotherapy is a type of talk-therapy that involves a client and therapist working together to bring out postive change in thinking, feeling, behaving and social functioning through a collaborative therapeutic relationship.

Therapy can help individuals treat and better cope with a variety of thoughts, feelings, behaviours and moods that may be negatively impacting their daily lives by using empirically-supported treatment plans that are tailored to your unique needs.
